Deep tissue massage therapy

Deep Tissue Massage

Intense, targeted therapy designed to realign deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Not for the faint of heart, but profoundly effective.

The Technique

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm, sustained pressure using slow, deliberate strokes. The therapist works across the grain of the muscle to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues (fascia). This modality is highly focused—rather than a full-body glide, the therapist will concentrate intensely on specific areas of chronic tension, often utilizing knuckles, forearms, and elbows to achieve the necessary depth.

The Benefits

This treatment is unparalleled for breaking up scar tissue and physically breaking down muscle "knots" (adhesions) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation. It facilitates injury rehabilitation, reduces chronic pain, and drastically improves athletic recovery times.

Who It's Ideal For

Deep tissue is engineered for individuals with chronic pain, those recovering from injuries, athletes, and professionals who spend long hours bound to a desk resulting in severe postural tension (especially in the neck, shoulders, and lower back). Note: It is common to experience mild soreness for a day or two following a deep tissue session as the muscles flush toxins and begin the healing process.

Pair With

For athletes, we highly recommend alternating Deep Tissue with our Sports Massage, or adding an active stretching component to maximize range of motion recovery.
